According to the PR update, allmags4free is now PR4. Well, that's great. I've spent countless hours submitting to directories, posting articles and the SEO I did on this site is a textbook example IMHO. Being curious, I checked some of the other sites that I have developed ( as a freelancer ) and it turns out that 2 of my sites not only got a PR of 4 as well, but they had ZERO SEO..not even any meta tags!!
I'm so confused...

Don't get frustrated, it takes time to really feel the impact of your
efforts - at least 4-6 months in Google to get top rankings - and also
keep in mind the quality of the link.
I've had sites come out of the gate with a PR of 6 - how? I had one link pointing to their site that was from a PR 7 page.
Of course, it's not as simple as flipping a switch, but the point is,
spend time to get a few quality links pointing to your site, and that
can beat hundreds of lesser value links.

Great point, links from relevant authoratitive sites with good page are always the best. For instance if you have a site for digital photo printing, a link from say Photography Blog would have a sinificant effect on ranking.
