GMail Drive
GMail Drive is a free shell namespace extension ("add-on") for Microsoft Windows Explorer. It allows a user to create a new network share on the workstation. In order to use this add-on, a user needs a Gmail email account. The add-on enables a user to use the normal Windows desktop file copy and paste commands to transfer files to and from the Gmail account as if it were a drive on the computer..
FunctionThe Inbox of a Gmail account is used to store the files. Consequently, GMail Drive cannot accept files sized greater than 10 MB, Google's limit on e-mail attachment sizes, or executable or zip files, which are not allowed as attachments. Moreover, GMail Drive can connect to one account on multiple computers. A multi-user file server can be emulated by creating a Gmail account with a distributed login and password, though this method is not particularly secure. The computer must be connected to Internet and must have access to Gmail. A broadband connection is a practical, though not formal, necessity. GMail Drive periodically checks the mail account (using the Gmail search function) to see if new files have arrived and to rebuild the directory structures.
WarningGMail Drive is an experimental package which can be compromised if Google changes Gmail API, though Gmail Drive would likely update to reflect such a change. Use of GMail Drive may violate the Gmail terms of service.

Yes, the Gmail drive has been mentioned in a couple of threads, before.
You might consider doing a quick search before posting 'new' topics.
Also, as you're quoting their page, please use the appropriate "Quote" tags in your posts, and include a link to the material you are quoting.
Thanks. _________________

I use it quite a bit. With this creaky old computer, and not much drive space, I use a couple of accounts for back-ups, original installation programs, and large files that are farely used.

I had lots of problems with it.
First, half the files I had to upload had a filename which was too long.
Secondly, I have pop3 setup, so whatever files I uploaded were immediately downloaded to my computer again
And thirdly, I couldn't be bothered with the upload process etc. _________________ Football Rumours | Gloog |

Well, I'm organized enough that I know what I'll be uploading, name the files accordingly, and leave them in an 'upload' folder to dump them in at my leisure while I'm doing other things. I also have accounts dedicated to storage, and only do POP3 on my regular mail accounts. It is indeed wonderful to be me.
