Two things that I care about in backround music
1) You can turn it off and on
2) Have a fast connection
The music better be good also LoL. I mean if your like on dial-up it will lagg like crap so you gotta have like DSL to hear it. Plus who wants to listen to country music if you like rap, rock, etc.

The key to music is to do this:
Have it play automatically, but have the player OBVIOUS...(make your own flash player...like this one: http://www.floggingmolly.com/ it's a good band, and they have a perfect example.)
However, I think that it is reasonable on a band's web site. What kind of site are you using it on? A band site? Is it your band? Do you have permission to play the music?

God, I hate background music.
I generally I open all new links in tabs, so I can finish whatever I'm doing on the page.
So when, music suddenly starts blaring at me from apparently no where it shocks an pisses me off. I have to stop whatever I'm doing and find the source.
It's very annoying and inconvenient; I normally just leave the site.
So if your intention is to drive people away...

I like bgsound but in sites like flash sites, not on a boring HTML site...
But on a PC like mine... I prefer to turn the sound off... too slow for me... thanx-...
But I still say: Yes.... Bgsound helps a lot on a good site, makes you feel like in the movies

I usually don't like, but sometimes when the song is really good I don't leave the website. But it should be very hard for a webmaster to select the song that will be good for everyone...

It can be very annoying when you have background music on a site, especially when there is no option to turn it off. But sometimes it is ok if the music is decent and there is a option to turn it off.

| Background music is generally annoying. They should not autostart, have a stop/play option and preferably offer more than one song for you to choose. |

| Depends on the mood really. Maybe one day I like it one day I won't. I think you should give a few different options of music if your going to give any at all. Like set it up as links as the name of the songss, and you click to play/stop. |

yeah background music not a good idea it takes bw and people may have winamp running in the background so it intervenes with there music
