Well unless Google wanted to buy it, I don't imagine it would be worth a tremendous amount...

You're trynna beat GC, ain't ya? Well, I don't think you'll succeed.

1. GoogleCommunity **sounds** better.. this matters as well
2. It IS a community already. It's really hard to bring traffic to your forum, and get users. trust me.
3. You started wrong. I see you ain't that brave man.. a webmaster always has to be brave.

P.s.: don't worry.. the third was from a chuck norris.. errm.. so-called... "joke".

Well, as Andrew mentioned, nobody can call themselves the "official Google" anything, except for Google.
Not unless they want to be up to their armpits in lawyers, before you could say "Trademark Infringement".
The Google people do not take such things lightly.

They'll just take the domain from you, without paying. They'll just say "We're Google, that's our trademark, copyright, brand, blah blah, you can't be the official Google, we'll have the domain. Goodbye."
Or you could always refuse and try to handle the lawyers...

I'm not at all trying to beat GoogleCommunity...I love this site...I just have my own ideas, and I want to try to make something great too.  I used alot of stuff from here because this is a great site and I think they do a great job...If that is a major problem, I can change things on my site so that it doesn't offend GoogleCommunity.  I have had this domain for a few years now and havn't done anything with it, so I figured...since the domain is officialgoogleforums.com  I should probably make google forums Smile  Not at all trying to beat GoogleCommunity...

PS...I don't think google can claim copyright confrigement since my site isn't called Official Google Forums...Its called OfficialGoogleForums.com...I'm not taking anything from google...I'm simply calling the site the same thing as my domain...

Then your domain is infringing on their copyright. That's why they'll do a "hit and run".

If that is the case, then google community is infrigning on a copyright, cause they use the word google in their domain...

No, Google Community does not state, infer, or hint that it is an "official" representation of Google.
It complies with Google guidelines by displaying the disclaimer at the bottom of each page:
"This website is not affiliated in any way with Google, Inc.
Google™ is a registered trademark of Google, Inc."

The problem is the message implied with the term "Official Google".
That's the misrepresentation that would be trademark infringement.

Looks like you're going to be stuck in a pretty hard situation if Google knows about your forums and chooses to take action. You're taking a risk here I suppose, if it was me I would sell the domain name to a willing buyer and get a profit first.

Anyways, good luck with the forums. Smile

Well, I emailed Google about it and finally got an answer...They said as long as I have a disclaimer saying that it isn't actually Google's official forums, then there was no problem...I also talked to my lawyer and he said you can't be sued over a domain name.  So I guess we will see lol.
