OpenBSD is not UNIX..(ONU) (neither is GNU.. Smile)
OpenBSD is based on 4.4BSD-Lite, and 386BSD.. even if the BSDs (the old bsds) are based on unix..
you cannot say "OpenBSD UNIX" ..
The only free UNIX out there today is Solaris..

I'm trying out different Linux distros at the moment. Smile I'm having some trouble trying to get my internet adapter to work properly though ( Sad ), so I have to switch between Windows and Linux regularly.

Much prefer Linux, but the whole software market seems to be aimed at Windows.

Using Mandriva Linux at the moment.

Try out ubuntu (6.04 in a few weeks), or fedora (v5 just appeared)..

Ok your right in a way. but OpenBSD is more Unix than it is any other OS in its Multi-Platform functionality. So basically it is Unix and it's much more secure than that crap known as Solaris. Solaris is a freaking joke.

I got it to work now, but I don't know how. The Wireless settings mode doesn't let me change from one setting to another. Confused
I even tried editing the ifcfg-wlan0 file, but it reverts back to the original, even if I edit it as root. Confused

Any ideas about how to change the Wireless setting from WEP to WPA? I'll probably need to do something soon, as I suspect it will all of a sudden stop working, and I'll be back at square one. Sad

I'm using Mandriva, not Ubuntu.
It's good now that I can get the internet. I just hope it lasts. Very Happy

Hey there,

I'm using Win98SE and not by choice, seeing as my only PC is a PentiumII 400 MhZ Sony because we can only afford a new system once maybe every 15-20 years.  I'm also bitter that I can only use Gmail, Blogger and Picasa.  So next time someone says "well you need to upgrade your PC" is gonna get a cyber-punch-in-the-mouth (yes, even Kim Komando).

Sorry about the bitterness...

I feel your pain, Smokestack. Smile
I'm currently limping along with '98, on the smoking remnants of a 7-year-old Packard Hell.
On the plus side, as parts pop and fizzle, I can swap ourt and replace them on the cheap,
without my OS deciding it's uncomfortable, and demanding that I phone its Big Brother and ask permission every time.

I use windows XP, though I do have a Linux disc so I might try it. I just don't see the point in changing though.
