Just follow these simple steps.
1. Click on the "Messages Tab" in your account.
2. Click on the "compose mail" option which is the last
one of the four icons you see together.
3. Select "all friends"
4. Cut and Paste this mail
5. Send it........ |

These kind of messages have been there since the early ages of Hotmail, MSN, Yahoo!/Y!IM and gawd knows what other websites and services. It'll keep on respawing until these people lose the interest to continue pulling these pranks, or every single person wises up and learn to ignore/trash it once they come across something like it. Unfortunately neither one happens and that is why we are reading this very thread in the first place.
It's good of ya to be inquisitive and ask around though, you now know whether or not it's true.

Yes, a typical 'chain mail' type of hoax. I'd either ignore it, or report it to Orkut.

because there are people who are very "instanteneous" to send a reply and send trash mail without ever thinking. most of the spam mails even have bad spellings and grammar.. and there is no such way someone can know if you send something to all of your friends but there is a way to know if you indeed send something but it will require great time, money and effort to do so for a userbase of more than 1000. better buy new hardware parts to increase the system resource since it is cheaper.. much much cheaper..
