Who is "everybody"?
And is there anyone that does anything online without an anti-virus running?
Are there people so badly informed that they'd click on executable files
that some stranger has served up without scanning them?
These things are not difficult to avoid.
And terms like "virus fest" just sound like silly hype.

Well, I don't speak the lingo, but I get the idea.
But, a few conversations isn't exactly mass hysteria, and usually,
the only thing 'viral' on Orkut, are the rumours that people keep repeating. 
As for the redirection, somebody's just posted a little bit of Javascript
(that can be posted in many public places).
My advice? Use Firefox, use the NoScript extension, and you don't have
to worry about (or even be aware of) these dumb little kiddy tricks.
