| I was wondering if anyone here knows wheter Google has plans to release a standalone application for using Gmail. Microsoft is currently beta-testing a version of their Windows Live Mail Desktop application and I have actually been looking for a application that can do this properly for Gmail. Using Outlook or Thunderbird didn't really work for me since not all the Gmail functions are included there (ofcourse). Let me know if you have some more info on this subject! |

| Dont count on it. Google is all about moving apps to online form. If they are now creating word processor, and spreadsheet apps that run in a browser, I cant see them creating a windows based email app to run locally. What benefit would this give you? |

| Think so too actually, was just wondering if someone maybe had some "official" information about it. I'm still looking for an e-mail client that communicates with Gmail so that I can label, star, etc. my conversations offline, and have it synchronized with my online mail. |

There might be extensions for Mozilla Thunderbird that might give that kind of functionality, have you looked? _________________ Michael-m.co.uk Forums|Language Wiki |

Hey, you never know. They might actually make one. MSN and Windows Live was all about online but they've made an standalone client. It seems as if a lot of email services are making a standaonline email client. Except Yahoo.

Think of it this way: If they released a Windows app, they would need to release a Linux and Mac (and more vaguely, Solaris and BeOS). Its all web, and its all compatible. _________________ bonekhan@gmail.com |
