Thanks. I know about Trillian, it is on one of my desktops. I didn't really want it for the laptop. I am testing the other one you suggested now. I just downloaded it. If you know of any others like it, please let me know. I hate having a million unnessary programs on the computers, and having a lot of them open at once kills the RAM and my patience.

Try e-messenger.net. They have web-based clients of AIM, MSN and Yahoo. Some of them are in public beta, but they're pretty stable. That way you won't even have to permanently download anything.

Thanks Eric,

However, I tried it, and don't like it. I do use it when I work at my part-time job, since it is the only web-based IM that the I.S. Dept. has not blocked! lol

I will test this other one, and see how it goes. I just wanted a program that combined the IM's. Thanks again!

We all know using web mail is a smart alternative to standard POP email. GMail is obviously better than most web mail providers in many ways. (having a gmail account, I can say this) Google already offers several services, which are awesome. IM, Why not?

I'm a longtime user of Hotmail and also use MSNM for instant messaging. If google came out with an Instant Messenger I'd drop both of them in a heartbeat and Go Google!!!

I think some peeps are right, there are already enough im's around and i'm thinking that google arnt going to help other companies e.g. msn or yahoo by putting their messengers into googles, also i was a bit sceptical about gmail but was interested and so i got an account, and they are brillient and with the search feature that yes maybe you wont use but its there just in case and all the other features wow, even compatability with picasa 2, now trust me on this, i am almost an expert on web mail as i have opened an account on almost all of them going, even Aol (yuck) just to see what they are like, if i like them, then i keep i think that google are welcome to bring out a messenger, i'm sure it would be great

P.s if you want a list of all the services i've used, here:

Aol
Yahoo
Msn
Mail
Lycos
mail.com
opera

to name but a few

A GIM would be nice if it can integrate all the existing IMs into it as well.. anything google will hopefully be simple, and stick to its task rather than hv too many unnecessary features that just hog memory.

I suppose thats true but they need a gimic or at least some features that are different to make people download but maybe there "selling point" could be that it takes up little room but still looks good of course, they probably wouldnt have intregated games but probably audio and web cams and of course emoticons etc
