Imma using IRC.
But, not the same server with the server Randy provide.
I am using DALnet.

I know that some networks offer Java based access to the service, but as far as I know, Freenode does not.
If you don't want to install mIRC or XChat, there is an IRC client that comes with the Mozilla web browser. And if you use a mac, Safari has one too.
Otherwise, I can't think of any other way to connect to the IRC channel.

As I know it is java server based with Sun microsystem module
