Well, this thread is very old, but yes, all you need to block pop-ups is to use FireFox. The Google Toolbar is autmoatically set into the browser, and you could even browse with other search engines if you really felt like it.
That said, it's likely that if the browser's pop-up blocker isn't blocking pop-ups like it should, then you have some sort of spyware on your computer and should immediately download, install, and run Ad-Aware SE Personal
Normally, I would have closed a thread this old.
