Everyone konws firefox is much more stable than Internet Explorer. But I have to give it up. Because:

1. Firefox's starting up is very slowly...
2. Inputing in the address bar is horrible, the backspace, delete, home and end key is ofen out of order...
3. Sometimes it can not connect the appointed site correctly, I have to press the "enter" key twice to connect.
4. It seems that the google desktop search does't support it.

I don't have any of those problems. I use GDS with Firefox; it just doesn't search my web page history, which is fine.

"Firefox's starting up is very slowly... " => compared to? IExploter? Yeah, of course, but don' t forget IExploter starts loading while you load Windows...

"Sometimes it can not connect the appointed site correctly, I have to press the "enter" key twice to connect." => I use Mozilla and had not that problem...

"It seems that the google desktop search does't support it." => there are new reports these days saying that new trojans and viruses will use htose desktop searches, so be aware of those new holes...

I also have problem 3 and some websites I must use for work won't open properly in firefox (well, I know is not firefox's fault) It's a nuisance but that still won't make me go back to IE...

I find it unbelievable that some users will give up on Firefox, I can see what you mean by point two (I have that issue sometimes also). The others i don't have probelsm with (I don't use the Google Desktop Search because I'm use to finding all my stuff using categories/folders Very Happy )

Firefox is simply a wonderful alternative to Internet Explorer.
It has a download manager so you do not have to put up with all those download dialog windows.
It has tabbed browsing so you do not have to have your task-bar filled with different instances of Internet Explorer.
And my favorite: It has the ability to block images from their respective addresses, which means you can get rid of a lot of adds that are on pages you frequent, since the adds usually have a different source than the actual page you're viewing. I wish they would implement the same function for the Macro media Flash Animations.

I wouldn't go back to Internet Explorer if it was the last browser on earth. Razz

For those of you who have a little time, I'd recommend you read this piece of news: "Try Using Alternative Browsers: Microsoft Dares You".
The lin is the following:

Code:
http://www.technewsworld.com/story/39269.html

It is really interesting. An example:

"I have discovered that Microsoft has a built-in booby-trap to discourage users from permanently adopting alternative browsers. It is the imbedded Internet Explorer coding that you cannot shut off.

Sure, you can designate another browser as the default browser. However, any function that touches on Microsoft's MSN Messenger, Hotmail account or e-mail clients will only view in Microsoft's IE, even when it is not the default browser.

There is an added glitch. When you click on a link in a newsletter or anything else in the IE-must-load-or-die hard wiring, the links don't access java. Java only works when IE is the default program. Microsoft says tough! Alternative browser makers say there is nothing they can do about it. So essentially, you have to share browser use based on function and need."

It's high time you test something apart from IExploter...

Good article, antioco. I've been using Firefox and Linux for nearly a year, and I would never consider using any Microsoft products on my computer ever again. If particular pages don't work correctly, I can still fall back on ordinary Mozilla, Konqueror, or Galeon, all of which came with my current distribution, Debian.

Also, Firefox loads as fast for me now as IE ever did under Windows. So do all of the others I mentioned. This leads me to believe that there is a great degree of truth in that article, that Windows is more inefficient than I thought, or perhaps a little of both.

Finally, though I've said this many times, I'll say it again. I find it incredible that no Google software supports Firefox/Linux when Google practically promotes them with these parts of its site:

What do you use for receiving/sending your emails? Outlook Express? Thunderbird?
I say this because Mozilla is a complete suite, perfectly integrated, which can be considered the elder brother of Firefox...
