I used to use yahoo before I got gmail, I used the free version and I think it started out at like 2mb (when I signed up) and then grew to 4mb, and then like 2 months ago they upgraded everyone to 100mb.

yahoo orignally had 6 meg accounts, then changed all new accounts down to 4 megs, but all accounts with 6 megs were left at 6, now all accounts have 100 megs of space.

I have be told on my hotmail account that there will be 250 megs of space, but i do not see anything more then 2 megs.

Maby they just have not finished it, any one out there see there hotmail account have 250 megs yet?

Yes, Josh hotmail accounts will be upgraded to 250 MB of storage space. Right now they are still at 2 MB. The upgrade is expected to come some time in August or early September. So far the only thing they got done since they announced this upgrade is the spam guard. If you need space, Hotmail is offering for 20 bucks a month 2 GB of storage space. I dont think anyone has 250 MB accounts as of yet. Hope that helps you out buddy. Smile

I was kind of getting sick of only 2 MB of space, so when i heard they were upgrading from 2 MB to 250 MB i could not wait. As i am still hoping for a gmail invite soon.

Seems likes they take forever for everything they do. Like you said "go figure." Right now i get alot of spam from to hotmail account. Hopefully when they upgrade to 250, it will take the ease of deleting my spam everyday to prevent my account from not recieving email.

Has anyone noticed this?

In the green or red space 'meter' on the left hand side of the screen (eg 87% of 2MB), there used to be a noticed of something like 'more storage coming soon!'

But now it's merely gone back to, when you're nearly full: "Almost out of space.
Get Hotmail Plus "

Seems like Hotmail is trying to fool as many extra people to sign up and pay for their Hotmail Plus service, who wouldn't do if they knew they'd have 250mb of storage coming soon. Typical.

Good idea on Hotmail's part to get as many people as possible to sign up for 2 GB at 20 dollars a year. Hotmail will try to hold off upgrading users to 250 as long as possible so they can get as many people to join up. Its kind of sad that they would do this, if this is really what they are trying to do. If not oh well.

It is.

And indeed, Yahoo mail was 6 MB (when I got it) and then they decreased it to 4 MB. If it weren't for Google, we'd still be there today. Luckily, Google pushed them up to decent 100 MB.

Yeah i also had the 6 MB before it was decreased down to only 4 MB. I always wondered why they did that. Probably to save money. So i was happy when i heard they were going up to 100 MB and even happier when i heard hotmail mail was going up to 250 MB. I was even tempted to upgrade to 2 MB because i dont have a gmail account. But I decided to save 20 dollars. lol

My current email provider,Myway, is currently doing6mb but is soon to upgrade to 125mb,which compared to Hotmail is pretty poor, seeing as it currently has more storage.I better upgrade to gmail soon!

even though yahoo and hotmail have upgraded their amount of mb/account, i still don't think it'll have too much of an impact on everything though, because we have gmail, and if you have a pc, chances are you have internet providers, which give you huge amounts of mb, sometimes even gb, therefore eliminating the need for a yahoo/hotmail account
