I read an article today about the bonuses that were given out to the Google employees, it was very interesting to learn who got what and how much, you might be surprised that Page and Brin received nothing. I was also in shock that they only received $1,566 as a Holiday bonus.

Did you know that more than a 1000 Google employees became instant millionares when they went public!

The article

They are the presidents of Google. Just keep in mind that they reap most of Google profits...they got plenty of bonus money. Wink

They are, after all, the ones who pay out the bonuses.

You need to learn something about businesses...when you're the owner of a company that suddenly got very very rich, you don't need to give yourself a bonus.

On a somewhat related but yet unrelated note, Steve Jobs' (CEO of Apple) salary is officially just US$1 per year!

Jobs worked at Apple for several years with an annual salary of $1, and this earned him a listing in Guinness World Records as the "Lowest Paid Chief Executive Officer". After Apple returned to profitability, the company dropped the "interim" from his title. His current salary at Apple officially remains $1 per year, although he has traditionally been the recipient of a number of lucrative "executive gifts" from the board, including a $90 million jet in 1999, and just under 30 million shares of restricted stock in 2000-2002.

I didn't know that anyone responded to this thread, thanks guys! Smile

Yes, when you are a billionaire it does not hurt to spread the wealth around when you can. Moral is very important, so is being appreciated.

That's too funny about Steve Jobs. Very Happy I wonder how his health is these days, is he doing better?

1500 in bonus money is allot compared to what most people get. I am interested in applying to google. Just because of the fun atmosphere that it brings and there intrests and ideas that surface to the public, I belive that is how google stays strong with there company.

As I said: If you run the company, you probably don't get paid...since you are the one who pays employees, and are thus the employer. You rely entirely on the company's profits. Thus, the "executive bonuses" show up. Wink

Of course, exactly how it works depends on whether the company is a proprietorship, a partnership, or a corporation, but that's basically the gist of how it would work.

I assure you Larry and Sergey are not hurting at all..

Just this month for example
http://finance.yahoo.com/q/it?s=GOOG

Sergey sold off close to $90M in shares. That is just in MAY. I don't think he needs much of a bonus to make himself happy for the holidays...

Page in just in April has liquidated about the same amount....

For reference:
Page has 43k shares currently valued at (~$1B dollars @ $233/s)
Sergey has 0 shares in Google Sad????
