i think that the most probable reason would be that he bought all 32 invites so that he could use up all the popular names, so that when a spinoff market comes around, he will use the names and sell them for tons of money, because when it come out to the public, all of the popular, and good names will be taken

For some reason he wanted 32 gmail invites. He might have bought them more expensive than you can get them on ebay, but he bougth 32 at the same time. So he saved himself a lot of time. Otherwise he had to bid at 32 differt gmail invites topics. Now he has them all in one time.

still though, that is a lot of many to pay for 32 invites. i would have just taken the time to buy them for like a dollar for two each and save myself some cash. how many people does he know so that he would buy 32 gmail accounts. that is a lot of email storage. in fact its bigger than my laptop's harddrive... all email + attachments.

WTF! Who would pay that much for something so well... free. Couldn't get me to pay that much for a gmail invite if it was the end of world. God, that's just plain stupid.

I think that once they release it, and a mad rush of Gmail accounts starts, they will bank on no one even getting close to that 1 GB limit...maybe in 10 years, when a better email service comes out? if that ever happens. 1000 MBS is a lot though. I think there's a website where this one guy tried to get as many people as he could to spam his gmail account with 5 MB attachments. haha if everyone does that then Gmail will be pretty screwed.

Yeah they would be screwed if everyone uses up there 1 GB. Whats the avg active users for hotmail or yahoo? Like 30-35 million? maybe more. Just think if say 30 million people sign up for gmail and they all use up there 1 GB? Right there is what 30 million GB, lol i dont know what its really called. 30 Million GB is alot. And yes they would be screwed if everyone did, but my bet is that most wont. So i dont think Google has anything to fear.

pick and slap, you seem to be under the impression that the banning of gmail has got something to do with the purchase. I do not think so.
