Sorry to break your heart but there's no way you can get a free domain anywhere at least not a major TLD one like ".com" ".net" etc.
Sure enough I have seen websites that give you free domains but normally there is a huge queue and you have to do something before hand to get it, there's always a catch.
Maybe you could try http://www.dot.tk/

Well, nuclues.be was giving .be domain names out for free. The only thing was you had to know it was for free, or start paying for a domain then finding out it was 0 franks a year.

.be names could be registered online for free....I registered one, but struggled to change nameservers...nucleus.be maybe just registered them.

I have a free domain, .tk, and .co.nr. My one i use for my forums is: .zud.org. The .tk is crappy.
