Don't you just hate it when your on the net and it chokes, or drops out? Well I do, especially when I pay for 256/64kbs and get an average of 74kbs. I've tried manya things to increase speeds, with some mild success. And it's not only me, I live in the metro area with a clean phone line, but it seems what you pay for isn't what you get!
This site has a good serverside tester.
http://www.bandwidthplace.com/speedtest/
Just scroll down to the personal test area (don't have to sign up) and select what you have, depending on what you choose, cable/adsl/other, the site will download a file and calculate the time it takes to download to your system (not harm full or a cookie).
At the end it will tell you, your current speed and will compare it to the rest of the country.
Note: For best results disable, IM Clients, IE, Browers, etc, But keep up firewalls and AV. |

I'm definetly getting ripped off. I apparently have half-meg broadband. But get about 256 KB transfer speeds, shoddy customer service and a promise of a free line upgrade as soon as we tell them our account number. They didn't even give us an account number. _________________ My other sig has a penguin in it.

| HaHa nice I'm downloading 3 times faster than the average person in my Province. Oh and I'm getting 2.4 MegaBits per second. I think that might be a tad to slow. 3.6 seconds to download 1 MB? |

| I really get mad, though, when a server is slow, when I should be downloading at least 300 KBps, it says I am only getting 90-100 KBps. Why couldn't all servers just upload quickly and tailor to my needs? LOL |

With our ISP, they upgraded from 512kbs to 3mps (I think, might be 2) for free and continued to charge us the same price |
