Gmail is BY FAR the best, for many reasons including:
1. Dynamic
2. Search function
3. Elegant layout
.
.
.

I still like Yahoo best than Hotmail, because I find it not as loaded with scripts and much faster.

My favourite is Gmail!

I am using it for my personal and daily mailings. I am impressed of the features especially character encoding
and decoding as I use different languages at once. The intelligent way how it recognizes the character set independence to the message is unique!

No chance for Yahoo and Hotmail! I hope to get a gmail hosted account for my domain Wink

ekaman's right! Gmail does take a while to load the initial list of emails. Afterwards, it's easy to view one mail after another, but at first it takes a while to load the whole interface.

I don't know. The interface loads pretty quickly for me.
Then again, I regularly label and archive stuff, and leave very few messages in my Inbox,
which is a major factor in keeping it quick.

If you use a fast connection, then surely it loads very fast. But I use a 20Kb/s connection, and I can surely tell that the initial loading of the interface is longer on Gmail.

1. If you have one email per day and you only want to view one email, you'd better use a html-only interface kind of email, and not the full-featured Gmail. Reason? The initial loading of the full interface takes a while!
For more than one email: the interface is already loaded and loading each email is very fast. So it's worth using gmail for more than one email. I advice my mother, reading only emails from me, to use Yahoo mail rather than gmail.

2. Offline browsing with Outlook Express/TBird/other email software is much faster than Gmail. The bad side is that you can't take your Outlook Express everywhere, like you can take your Internet connection.

Another Gmail advantage, though. Free POP3 access.
With Yahoo, this varies according to location, and service providers.

No. It varies like this: you have Yahoo! Pops installed or not.

Well, not really. That is quite a good program that I've used before. But no.

Yahoo mail varies widely from country to country.
Now, here in Canada, there is not a problem, as POP3 access is entirely free (yahoo.ca).
As far as I know, this is also largely the case with yahoo.uk addresses.
I've also had yahoo.com addresses, which I could previously access with yahoo pops,
but since they started bundling the service by selling it to US ISPs,
they have specifically adapted the sevice so that it can not be used by this, or any other free program.
This is what you may expect, as it's rather a lucrative business in this part of the world.

And, most likely, coming soon to a country near you.
