Why Pentium in a desktop and AMD in a
laptop?? AMD's except for some of the newer ones have usually ran
hotter than a Pentium. While this isn't true with some of the newer
dual cores it is in the past. AMD's are usually hotter because they run
at a higher frequency therefore running faster but producing more heat
as well. I would go with the AMD just for the simple fact that they
always spec out better. An AMD running at 2.4GHZ will out perform a
Pentium 4 also running at 2.4GHZ. Pentium seems to have the problem of
giving something a higher rating than it can really produce.

When i was choosing the proccesor for my new custom built computer, i
saw the price of a p4 3 GzH which was $280 and the Athlon 64 3500+
2.20Ghz ( which i bought) $320 i asked the salesman wahts the diffrence
between the 2 when the p4 had more Ghz, he said the athlon has better
performance than the p4, he told not to worry with the clock speeds.
Well its given me very good performance, iam satisfied.
