The greatest baseball player ever?

I think that Babe Ruth was the all-time greatest baseball player. I come to this conclusion for many reasons.

First, he actually saved the game of baseball after the "Black Sox" scandal. People stopped going to the games after that. Babe brought people back with his long home runs.

Second, he was one of the best pitchers in the game. He became an outfielder only to get his awsome bat in the line-up every day. If he hadn't done that he would probably be in the HOF as a pitcher.

Third, he absolutely destroyed all of the home run stats of the time. He was hitting more homers than entire teams. He more than quadupled the record for homers in a season. That would be the eqivalent of someone hitting 300 homers in a season today.

Fourth, the only stimulants that he needed was beer and hot dogs.

Any thoughts on this either way? I'd like to hear what everybody else thinks.
