The One Laptop Per Child (OLPC) project's mission is to provide laptops to children in developing countries. The idea is to empower these schoolchildren by allowing them access to the kind of technology that has made the U.S. and other technology-centric nations so prosperous. It’ll give the kids tremendous opportunity for education, in a way they’ve never seen before.
From November 12 to 26, you can donate a laptop to a child in a developing nation, and another one will be sent to you in recognition of your contribution. These are incredibly neat little devices, and this is the first time it has been offered to the general public. The cost to do this is $399, as the price of one laptop is $200 (and indeed, $200 of the donation is tax-deductible)!
Give one, get one - One Laptop Per Child
I really,
really want to get one of these laptops, especially since they’re
green. But I don’t have the time or money to be happy with such a purchase right now. You can make the payment with PayPal, but my PayPal account balance is $0.00. In the past few weeks, I’ve been spending money like crazy. (I don’t mean to, honest!)
My latest purchase was a 1ShoppingCart account for selling
The Forum Book. You can help me out by buying a copy if you want it, or you can make an outright donation to support this cause. I’ll take this donation button away once my PayPal balance reaches $399. Hopefully I can do it within the next 11 remaining days!
Donate to my OLPC Fund
Thanks,
Elliot
P.S. You also get one year of complimentary T-Mobile HotSpot access, valued at over $350, when you take the give one, get one offer! (

P.P.S. What do you think of OLPC?
