Hi,
My Google Desktop (version: 5.1.0709.19590-en-pb because the newest one a) has the same problem and b) doesn't work with Firefox if you disable Web History) is giving me the above error EVEN THOUGH I have no problem accessing Port 995 everytime I check my gmail email account using Thunderbird. I'm running Win2k with all updates & Firefox 2.0.0.11 & Spybot1.4. I am behind a router but since I get my POP gmail emails w/o any problem I can't believe it's the issue...plus I enabled port 995 forwarding and it made no difference. No firewall software (though spybot does apparently block access to certain malware websites). Worked fine up until I upgraded to Google Desktop 5.5..now stepped back to 5.1 but problem persists...advise?
