Two things it's missing that Adobe Photoshop has...

(1) It doesn't have an easy image "browser" (analogous to Photoshop Bridge) which gives you an array of "thumbnails" from which you can pick and choose which image you want to edit. If, like me, you have folders with big numbers of graphics, and if you don't have all the image names and their dimensions memorized, then a handy browser/catalog function can mean more than you might think! Danged important! Essential, I finally decided!

(2) Surprisingly enough, Gimp doesn't seem to work all that well on a Mac. Sometimes, it just hangs up. Sometimes it's just slowwwww.

On Mac or on Windows, either buy a book or go to the website for documentation. Help files aren't installed.

Aside from that, I think it can do everything Photoshop can do.
