Gmail Notifier Offline

Hello,
I seem to have developed a problem where my GMAIL NOTIFIER is always offline. I am no longer asked for my username and password when I boot up windows. I do not get a blue envelope when new mail arrives. However if I double click the white envelope it will open my inbox. This WAS working fine at one point and then just stopped, without me really changing anything (purposefully that is)
I've tried finding answers online and did the following:
Turned off all firewalls
Turned my firewall back on and made sure gmail was listed as an exception
Deleted all IE passwords, temp files, history etc etc
Downloaded a fresh installation file, un-installed old notifier, installed notifier from fresh download.

Anyone know how to fix this? I kinda' wonder if Windows downloaded an update which has affected my gmail notifier functionality.
Thanks
