Contacting the site should be your first attempt to rid the negative publicity off the internet. Who knows maybe the webmaster will feel for you and remove it. IT WOULDN'T HURT TO TRY.
If that fails then you can invest your time and effort into pushing the negative items down.
But you should first try to contact the site admin to see if there is anyway they can assist you.
