The most important in my mind are:
Sound layout for SEO and to draw click throughs
Quality content will keep users coming back -- quality over quantity, but quantity doesn't hurt
Focus on SEO, because a jump to the first page of Google could more than quadruple your traffic for that keyword in a lot of cases.
