I totally agree with your approach. I do seo part-time as well. When I use adwords it's for affiliate stuff where I have no control over the website. With google also admitting to "sandboxing" new sites, It's also(was) a good way to get traffic jump started. As an seo you should know rank and position don't change over night. And with the right program $5.00 for 100 targeted visitors can be profitable. I for one have always thought Search engine optimization was the way to go. And after the adwords thing I really think more people should look into it. I know people making huge bucks promoting 10-20 different programs and they are hit hard by this adwords change.
