The error is a server error, their servor error. "Whoops we are unable to connect you, please try again." Or something to that effect.
It's very hit and miss whether I can login or not. And if I can login I find it difficult to open up the mail. Server error. I would post a screen shot but I managed to get in again :P If anyone else is having these problems try

Incedently I still needed to refresh the page over 5 minutes before I could access my mail
It's very frustrating because this has been happening over the past week or so, so apologies for the tearsness of my previous post. It's very annoying that the only email address I had for getting in contact with google/gmail had an automated reply.
Just in case it does help I'm based in the UK, I remember having similar problems about 6 months ago when the gmail invites started going crazy, but they managed to sort out the problems fairly quickly. I have learnt my lesson though and I've turned my forwarding on, and if things don't improve I will be abandoning my 2.5 gig worth of mail
