Problem: GMail Chat vs. Firefox

Hey there,

Hi, I'm a new member and I hope this hasn't been asked before: I like the new Google Chat but I can't get it to work on Firefox. At work I use IE (no problem there), but at home I use the latest Firefox (1.5) and Chat won't show up. I have since read up on it and according to Google, Chat won't work if you connect to GMail on a secure (i.e. https setting. Trouble is, Firefox will not connect any other way. It automatically put in the https: header, even if I remove it.

I've tried mucking about in the Options... menu, nothing. I'm running a few Google extensions (Googlebar Lite and GMail Manager) but I don't see anything there.

So if there's anyone out there with Firefox experience that could tell me how I can tweak it so it won't autonatically put the https: in there? Thanks for any help.
