SPAN style="COLOR: rgb(64,64,255)"GMailBR style="COLOR: rgb(64,64,255)"SPAN style="COLOR: rgb(64,64,255)"Drive is a free shell namespace extension ("add-on") for MicrosoftBR style="COLOR: rgb(64,64,255)"SPAN style="COLOR: rgb(64,64,255)"Windows Explorer. It allows a user to create a new network share on theBR style="COLOR: rgb(64,64,255)"SPAN style="COLOR: rgb(64,64,255)"workstation. In order to use this add-on, a user needs a Gmail emailBR style="COLOR: rgb(64,64,255)"SPAN style="COLOR: rgb(64,64,255)"account. The add-on enables a user to use the normal Windows desktopBR style="COLOR: rgb(64,64,255)"SPAN style="COLOR: rgb(64,64,255)"file copy and paste commands to transfer files to and from the GmailBR style="COLOR: rgb(64,64,255)"SPAN style="COLOR: rgb(64,64,255)"account as if it were a drive on the computer..

H2Function/H2P style="COLOR: rgb(160,64,255)"TheBRInbox of a Gmail account is used to store the files. Consequently,BRGMail Drive cannot accept files sized greater than 10 MB, Google'sBRlimit on e-mail attachment sizes, or executable or zipBRfiles, which are not allowed as attachments. Moreover, GMail Drive canBRconnect to one account on multiple computers. A multi-user file serverBRcan be emulated by creating a Gmail account with a distributed loginBRand password, though this method is not particularly secure. TheBRcomputer must be connected to Internet and must have access to Gmail. ABRbroadband connection is a practical, though not formal, necessity.BRGMail Drive periodically checks the mail account (using the GmailBRsearch function) to see if new files have arrived and to rebuild theBRdirectory structures.BRH2Warning/H2P style="COLOR: rgb(169,74,11"BGMail Drive/B isBRan experimental package which can be compromised if Google changesBRGmail API, though Gmail Drive would likely update to reflect such aBRchange.P style="COLOR: rgb(169,74,11"Use of GMail Drive may violate the Gmail terms of service.Source Gmail Blog
