span style="color: rgb(191, 0, 191);"font size="4"span style="font-family: Verdana;"the Illiad was the first book i ever read. i was three yrs old and it was an old penguin translation i found by my parents' bedside. it was love at first sentence! i went on to become a Classics scholar, read it in the original Greek-how lovely!-then got my grad degree in Pyrrhonic Skepticism, then lost it all when i had my first stroke in my late 20s. i'm regaining it gradually but am concentrating on other civilations now-mainly Asian this time, plus my Judaic studies, of course.
