Thanks, guys. But I'm afraid the house is no more.
They bulldozed the remains a couple of days ago. Not enough left to fix.
On the plus side, I got a fairly decent new (rental) house only about ten blocks away, so I didn't have to leave my old neighbourhood.
And in better news, I was actually able to access my old, beat-up, smoke-and-water-damaged hard drive on this new (to me
) machine, today.
So, the programs are gone, but there's a ton of files that I never thought I'd see again.
