Korean CYKAN Entertainment company had purchased 43 percent stock of COMMSEED, a Japanese game company. It is becoming the biggest shareholder of COMMSEED game company.
CYKAN Entertainment spent 2000 millions yen in this merge case (equal to around $1670 USD). Japanese COMMSEED company is a developer of family game software and an operator of mobile telephone games. CYKAN got a big part of Japanese game market by this merging movement. It is the first time that a Korean game company had successfully merged a Japanese game company in the stock market.
Japan has always been the largest game developing country in Asia, even around the world. For the past decade, with the MMO game boom, Korea had quickly step into the game industry and become a pretty tough competitor. Now we see Korean game company had first time merged a Japanese game company, which could be seen as a signal of an even bigger war in gaming industry. Even China is developing many MMO games lately.
