Page Rank vs. Alexa Rank

Can anybody explain me which rank (Alexa or PageRank) is better to control our site's performance?
On one hand we have a PR of 5 (which we think is not bad) but on the other, our Alexa Rank is 1,346,358 (which we think is not very good).
Thanks!

Alexa ranking is measured by those using the toolbar whilst pagerank measures how popular a page is on the web.

Pagerank is more interesting to use.

There completely different things.

PageRank is rated out of 10 to judge the amount and quality of incoming links to your website.

Alexa ranks your website based on the amount of users and page visits over the last 3 months. The higher the rank the more traffic you are getting.

PGOOGLE, I don't think your Alexa ranking is bad. It's much better than mine, which is 5,937,127. Besides, from what I've seen on the Alexa site, only the [b]really/[b]big dogs like Yahoo, MSN, and of course, Google, have the single and double digit rankings. If I understand correctly, your ranking is about normal for Alexa.

I use both to check a website's credibility.
If a website's in the top 100000 Alexa ranks, I'd say it was doing pretty well.

PR can be deceptive. you can target a national keyword(or phrase) like say "diet" and have a pr4 and need several thousand related links to get that pr4. Then you can target a keyword like "your town real estate" and only need 150 related links to get the same PR. I have seen countless sites with PR 4 or 5 and not rank for anything but the url of the site. There are many factors involved in these calculations. Alexa gives traffic counts(estimated) so I would be more interested in getting a good alexa ranking then PR. the better the alexa ranking the more traffic you have, and that is what counts. I beat higher PR sites with lower pr sites all the time.
Just choose a keyword at random and do a search on it in google and then look at the top 20 sites. I am sure you will see this with just about any keyword. I have seen PR4 sites beat PR7 sites countless times.

I think the alexa rank is not very important, NOt everyone use it's toolbar, but google pr is very important.

I always trust pr's. Sites with good pr usually do well.
