I think building links naturally is better and effective than link building with the help of a site. Natural links are considered more valuable by the SEs.

I believe the most valuable tool is your e-mail. Start contacting websites that are related to the theme of your site and see if you both can swap links. Expect response only about 25% of the time though, a lot of websites simply aren't maintained very well or people don't check their e-mail, spam boxes, etc.
