I have been searching for ever for this.....

Ok. I can't seem to find out where i can go to add my site to the google search engine. Like say someone searches games, my site will show up in that category. I can't find where i go to do that, and i don't want a free submission, i want to pay for it because the ones that i pay for i know will show up. Where do i go?

Google doesn't work like that.

For your website to appear in the first few pages when someone searches for 'games', you would need quite a high level of Search Engine Optimisation (SEO).
The fastest way to get indexed by Google is by gathering links from high ranked sites. These effectively count as a 'vote' towards your site. When Google goes to these sites, it crawls through the link to your site.
Alternately, you can submit your link to Google, but it takes a long time for it to get indexed.

There are quite a few companies around that do SEO for you, helping you to rank high, but most cost money.
As long as you have good content, your site will gain popularity, and climb the search rankings.

So to answer your question: you can't pay Google to have your link indexed.

Realistically you'll have to pick a more specific term than 'games' to have a chance of high search rankings.

This is a highly competitive search whichwill go to high Page Rank, well established websites with 1000's of inbound links you just have to look at the top 10 listing in the [url=http://www.google.co.uk/search?sourceid=navclient&ie=UTF-8&rls=GGLJ,GGLJ:2006-15,GGLJ:en&q=games"Google search to see this.

If your looking to pay for a high ranking for 'games' your best bet is to use Google AdWords where you will pay for each click to your website from the Google sponsored links and content network.

Holy crap. Good illustration.
Not much point in being listed for a search term if there are two billion and a half sites listed before you.

Exactly, if you look on http://inventory.overture.com/d/searchinventory/suggestion/there are tons of popular game relatedsearches which would be easier to achieve high rankings for. A top page ranking for one of these terms would bring in a hell of a lot more hits than a getting on the 25th page for the most competitive term!

Hmm...I've been wondering about this as well. I really never used to know how you got on search engines. I know, I know, I should be ashamed ^_^
