Personalized Homepage Module - Must Have

If any of you use the Personalized Homepage option on Google, this is a must have module. It finally allows you to expand and collapse modules. It saves space on the homepage for more modules and brings your eye to what you want to look at first. Hide those modules you check once a day, or the games you don't need to see all the time.

Feedback and suggestions are always welcome.

Thanks,
Matt

This is pretty helpful. I've been on Windows Live as well, and this feature was always there.
So I did wonder when Google (or some third party) would roll it out, since its pretty much needed.
So thanks for this. You're right about this being a must have.

Thanks Matt

Just down loaded it, what a space saver. May be I'll finally loose that callous on my index finger from all that scrolling- better yet and most likely, add more rss feeds and modules- HA! Thanks for the link.brJOHNbr

Thanks for the feedback, it's great to hear people useing my module. I have worked a lot on the module in the past few days and made a new version with a better name. Due to that, I put it on a new page and such. Please use this new module, or upgrade: http://networkadvanced.com/google_mo...s,BRMatt<br />

I actually like the first version of the module better than the update. I noticed when I updated to the newer version, all my feeds had two arrows instead of one. I didn't like that. I also wasn't able to get a list of all my rss feeds that are on my personal google page when I clicked on the collapse modules link. So I was unable to choose how I wanted my modules displayed. Perhaps you will correct this or may there is something I need to know about the module. The idea is great. I went back and reinstalled the older version. Will update if you think you have tweaked out those problems. thanks.

I have no had any reports of this problem from anyone else. I may have been testing something when you updated. Try the module again and check if it works. I only have one arrow on my modules. Also, I got rid of the list of all modules. I changed it to a system where it remembers the state of the modules last. So if you collapse a module, and then X out, it will be collapsed next time you go to the homepage.

Let me know if you still have issues.

div style="text-align: left;"Matt- undid the module and reloaded it, works like a charm now, thanks for the module. One problem I did encounter using the module with the Opera Web browser was at times all the titles of module feeds would seem to align right. That would cause the title fields to take up two spaces as oppose to a single space.brExample:brMake Magazine- would look likebr MakebrMagazinebrI might have had this problem with Fire Fox too, but can't remember. Seems to work well now but I will let you know if this happens on Fire Fox. brbr/divdiv style="text-align: right;"br/div

That would be caused from the text being too big and line-breaking to a second line. Does it happen to all, or only modules with long titles? It doesn't happen in firefox all the time, only with modules that have long names. Let me know.

OK Matt-

The problem that I had with the Opera Web Browser and at times with Fire Fox was that when the feed titles would appear, the title text would align right causing a line break forlong titles or just align right on short titles.
So for example the following would read or appear:

Make Magazine

Make
Magazine

Salon
Salon
This would cause some text to be off the screen making it necessary to use the horizontal scroll bar.
Since I have downloadedthe newer version this no longer happens on FF, and it looks great on IE as well. I have yet to see how it looks on Opera because I only use that browseron my girlfriend's computer. The double arrows are no longer a concern. I think I might have downloaded the second version while you were testing or rewriting code.

As for the line breaks, some of my feed titles do have long titles that require breaks. I did (as you suggested) minimizethe pagetext size. That is not much of an issue, it only bothered me when everything aligned right and I would have up to four breaks on some titles, but that's been solved.
So how about a new assignment- I'm not sure if it's been done, I don't think I've seen anything, so how about a module that allows one to rename their feed titles, this too would save some screen space and minimize breaks.
Thanks again for the module.
John

Just a note to you all. Here is another module I just wrote. I've been getting fdeedback elsewhere, if you would take a look and let me know. It makes your homepage have tabs. Much like this, once you have it, you will wonder how you lived without it. Also, is has been a long requested feature, and it is finally written. http://www.googlecommunity.com/about12434.html

to hear it is working well. I could put something together to rename all module titles. Shouldn't be too hard. That will be my next one. Once Tabs is off and running, I'll make that one next. Great idea. Let me know if you have anymore wishes. I am looking for new ideas.
