Page ranking lost although SE positions are excellent.

In my last post I was panicking because I had lost all my listed pages in the search engines because I had manually, through Google, removed old links where I had changed the file names. And yes, they were cached pages.

I got them back beautifully done as if someone had been in and had done a lot of housekeeping. I found that because I had a dot com address I had my listings primarily on “all the web” where previously I had been searching for Au only. I am extremely happy with my search engine positioning and with a bit of recent additional optimization I suspect they will be even better.

I could also see my page rank on the Google toolbar and this had increase to 4 on some pages. The “contact us” page has always had a two rank and it had a 3.

Now I only have a page rank (3) on the home page only. No other index pages are ranked.

Can someone offer an explanation please? I have 62 first page positions in 4 main Aust search engines "all the web" and about 109 on pages 1-3.

Many have state and country in the lsiting but still amongst good Au company. Others are competing with the entire web in their own right. These are credible pages. I had exchanged links to some high ranking theme sites. So one of my website appears 4 times on a first page where they have obtained first page ranking in all categories... Amazing.

I have about 440+ inward links, which I cannot find,* and I suspect I have been linked to a lot of resume link farms. Sample resumes have also been picked up by many link farms. Some of my reciprocal links and genuine City based directories are not showing – especially in Google. I haven’t looked for over a week.

So what could have happened with my page rank does anyone know? I thought that because everything else is good and tidy there should be no reason to lose my page rank,
any thanks in anticipation

* I could do this though IBP but havent had the time.

Do you want high page rank or good rankings?

A lot of people overestimate the meaning of page rank. It is one measeruble factor. But what is with the other factors.

Google is sometimes testing. My advice for you wait and be patient. You know what you´ve done and when it is without spam you don´t have to be frightened.

Infact you must be happy that your google listing has crawled high. What is our primary target behind opitmizing a site is to get it a the top in google and earn hits and profit. As far as I know pagerank doesn't make you get hits the way Google ranking does. So you must be happy with what has been happening so far.brWhat is our primary goal, it is to get traffic on our sight. Getting a pagerank is one of the SEO stratergy why are U forgetting UR major goal behind optimizing a site.brEnjoy the Ranking Dude, Earn as much as traffice you can.br

Page ranking lost although SE positions are excellent.

Hi Guys
Thanks for your reply - as I find new key words to feed in page positionging in important areas still rising.
Yes I have read not to worry about page ranking. My main problem is that I want to sell the site which is really half of my business but don't want to bother with financials so selling as "a high ranking website". I guess this is true, but if we look at the actual page rank number there is only the one, so wondering if my ad should still read "high ranking website".

I am posing another question under a new topic. hope you can help.
Cheers
