It may not matter a great deal.
After all, if most people can view your pages, and search bots can crawl them, what difference does it make? I think we've probably all seen very popular sites created for large companies that are, in fact, poorly constructed and don't display properly in all browsers. But maybe the question should be, why not construct a page that is w3c-compliant? If you are 'one of the crowd', jockeying for a position with many other similar sites, why would you not want any small advantage that you could get, like popularity amongst people that use a variety of browsers and operating systems? The 'little guy' simply needs to appeal to the broadest possible audience, and enable as many people as possible to access, and use thir site to its full potential. |

A very good reason is backward links. If you place their icon on your site pages and your site pages are W3C compliant you will have a nice backward link to the page that is compliant.
Check out for one of my sites. |

/spanbrI think you are trying to say the other way round. I mean backward links to their site from ours won't helo much then our link on their site. Right? |

It probably doesn't matter that much, as long as your pages are still readable by the bots. If your code is really bad, then I'd guess the bot would give up on your page and move on.

W3C
As Matt Cutts pointed out having a W3C valid site is important but not crucial. If a site can get spidered then great but why make it struggle! plus if it works it all bowsers that would help the amount of successful hits you get.brbrMore information in Notcon Search Engine Marketing Blog br
