lost ranking

Every month I update my site, and resubmit it so as to get that content listed.brbrI used to come up in the top ten in "free australian landscape photos"brI was number 3 for "australian landscape desktop wallpaper"brand about 20 in "australian landscape photos".brbrInitially I gained using open source marketing by putting in the word free, Mostbrphotography websites are lying when they use the word "free". Also putting inbr"wallpaper" gained more hits.brbrI have lost the ranking now I am so far down its not worth looking.brI rate well with Yahoo for these searches, but have never got many hits from them.brbrAlso, which is weird, this weekend my search for my site has a cache from July on severalbrsearches using my name, but also at the same time today of the brcurrent October. This suggests Google has different servers. brbrI do get good rankings for some photos from my March webpage in Google Images. Why mybrother photos don't get in I don't know, but this is something.brbrLast month I was on a high of around 200 visitors, this month has taken a complete dive.brbrIn June I switched from one page with all links on it to having a separate links page and incorporated CSS.brBut
I don't think that is it, it is very abrupt, 30 September2006 I
come up #2 for free landscape pictures" (Australian websites)br8 October 2006 I am competely off the radar.brbrWith the other peculiarity of the July page showing in the cache, I conjecture Google has had a loss of archive data.br

lost ranking

I checked in Google webmaster tools and there were two crawl errors, pages not found (actually moved) dated Oct 1. As I use a free website from my ISP I only have 10mb space, so I also use a yahoo free website as an archive site and have shifted some galleries over there. Now thats full I am using my Picasa Web album as the final resting place, although that is not as flexible and I can't get site stats.brbrHowever when I check brdiv class="headerBlock" div class="crumbs" Webmaster Toolsspan class="crumbsInactiveText"span style="text-decoration: underline;"/span› http://users.bigpond.net.auustralian_landscape_photos/ /span span class="crumbsActiveText" › Index statsbrbrThere are no pages that list my URL beside my own link page. I have had friendly links such as the band Liquid Village brbrhttp://www.liquidvillage.net/brbrwhich kindly put a link on their front page months ago in exchange for my help in promoting them, and other links let alone my archive site brbrhttp://au.geocities.com/davo4prog/brbrwhich is in Google, and several other locations where my URL can be found.brbrThe most recent crawl was Oct 4 and I would have thought it would have found these links. I have since revised the page putting my links back on brthe index page (rather than the separate links.html, which I have removed).brbrhttp://users.bigpond.net.auustralian...brDavidbr/span /div div class="appLocation" /div /divbrbr

lost ranking now in google images as well

September my site brbrhttp://users.bigpond.net.auustralian...tos/brbrpeaked with around 6 visits a day and from google images another 3, that stopped first from google and now images. The images requested were all from March and my current theory is that after 6 months as they cannot be found (they have been moved with a redirecting html page) that that is why I have fallen off the listings. Visitors have now virtually stopped from Google altogether.brbrI was wrong about the ranking, the Google toolbar gives my site a ranking of 3/10, which is quite good. Sites in a search of "australian landscape photos" come up in the top with 2/10. But I scan through about 6 pages of listings and still can't see my site.brbrChecking google sitemaps the only error is three pages not there. I put my links page back up. The other two are odd, because I have used a phrase to name a page, eg "Photos of Sweden.html" this becomes "Photos%20of%20Sweden.html" but Google thinks its "Photos%25... and calls it a broken link. Sheesh, I stopped puting underscores or hyphens because I thought this might inhibit it coming up in searches.brbrAlso as space is limited I am changing content regularly, but I am now using Picasa to give me 250mb free online, so eventually I will just have the website as a front end to picasabrbrhttp://picasaweb.google.com/davo4progbrbrThat is unless I decide to buy hosting, but space is expensive for a largely free site, and easy to fill up with photos.brbrI have made the title of my index page just "Australian landscapephotos" (it used to have more blurb) and also put in a meta keywordslist. I also brought up all the links from my links pages onto theindex page. That new code is not yet in the google cache, hopefullynext month things will come right again.brbrBright idea: maybe it would be possible to delete pages from the index when they have been moved or removed, perhaps as a tool in google webmaster tools.brbrDavid.br
