google redirecting my site

Why does google redirect my site to a different address

The address is correct and every othe search engine and location points to the right sight

Why not Google?

Is this a scam?

This is what I get and it's relocated to some selfhelpforum which isn't any help and not my site.

Ive tried contacting google in various ways, email etc but all are returned with the message that this is the wrong dept etc! No help whatsoever

Funnily
enough, if you type selfhelpforums into google their site (URL above) comes up number one and the second result is this 404 file of theirs, although they assure me, and after investigationI believe them, that it is not of their doing.

Google does not redirect sites. It only keeps a record of existing links.

It's difficult to say what the problem is, without seeing both the original, and the redirecting link.

Hello Mondine

Many thanks for the reply, this problem has been driving me and my visitors nuts!

My website is a forum about The Verichip located here..

http://noidchip.free-forums.org/

Now
if you click the link from any other location except google, it's ok. It works OK from here for instance. However, when google brings up the results, and it does list the correct address, whenever you click on the link (any one) it redirects to a place called selfhelpforums with a 404 error message.

Here is an example, if you type the name (and keyword) for my site NOIDCHIP my forum comes up number one (and other results) the correct address is displayed however it goes straight to this other site with the 404 file. Try it on google here, I've made a link to google search results to save time....

http://www.google.co.uk/search?hl=en&q=NOIDCHIP&btnG=Google+Search &meta=

Of
course this is a google problem as it connects from any other location ok,and the address is correct and there is no problem with the site.

Any help would be greatly appreciated, I have heard this has become a common problem, and I've spent so much time putting this forum together, and as everyone knows, google is the number on search engine that everyone uses so most internet users will not be able to access my site for the first time.

Thanks in advance

Tony

Okay, this is messed up.

I did the search, and replicated your results.
Got the same page, and then just hit "Go" with the address unchanged, and got your site.

Odd thing is... both the redirect site and yours have the same I.
So, I'd still have to think that something is hinky, either with your site, or the host.

At any rate, the only thing I can think of for you to do is visit the Webmaster Help Center.
You could pursue a number of avenues of contact there, look over their selections of diagnostic tools, submit a sitemap, etc.

Good luck.

Thanks Mondine

Yes it is a bit messed up isn't it. I'm on the google webmasters page but not having any luck at the moment.

I've registered http://noidchip.free-forums.org/ to mt google account and when I ask Google Webmaster to show my sites it brings the links upand they work OK. Yet they still don't in google search which is the most important reference on the net.

It's certainly not a problem with the site, as it connects OK from any other location, so it is either an error with google or my google listing has been hacked. Which one do you think.

Many thanks for your help and thoughts on this matter.

Another problem i'm having, with google webmasters, is that my site is a forum, not a website, and I can't fin anywhere in my management area of the forum to upload the html or meta tag that google requires to verify the site.

I've gone through every option you can without verification and none of these have halped so far.

TIA

Tony

I don't know if it's worth mentioning but i've noticed that googlebot has been visiting my site a lot of the past few days.

Surely this can only be a good thing, and may this sort out the problem do you think by updating the error?

It hasn't done so far, and I don't know the inns and outs of how it works, but I'm hopeful. At least googlebot is a regular visitor

Well, if the Googlebots have been busy, it should be sorted out in time.
As for what you can do with your forum software, you could always try asking in one of the Webmaster forums here, further down the list.

Thanks for the assurance.

I've noticed something else today that worries me.....

FONT size=4Cyveillance/FONT

When I was looking up on possibilites that may have been affecting my site I remembered the above name, and when I checked my forum log earlier to see if googlebot were checking I got an IP address linked to - FONT size=2cyveillance.demarc.cogentco.com/FONT
FONT size=2/FONT
Theres a lot of bad things mentioned about these being hackers and miners, here's one example
http://cyveillance.linuxgod.net/

This
is quite new to me, can anyone help, and should I ban that IP address?

Thanks in advance anyone
