Search Result Question

font class="mo" color="#000000" face="verdana" size="2" Hi, can someone please tell me why some search results will only show the name of the web site, some descriptions of a line or two and the url in small printing, where some sites show their sub directories as well?brbrFor example, if you type "Yahoo" on google search, the first thing you will see is yahoo.com with their sub directories like yahoo finance and email feature. However on the other hand, if you were to serach for "MSN" it just shows the simple search result with 1 or 2 line of description.brbrCould someone please tell me why this would be the case please?brbrThank youbrbr/font

My guess is that site that has a lot of content can get its subpages listed right under the main page, the subpages get higher rank in that query than the next result from another domain. So search query Yahoo will list all the related pages under the same headline, and naturally Yahooquerys most relevant results are under the same mainpage.brbrWhy some sites doesnt show any descriptions might derive from the reason that the site doesnt contain the keyword(s) you entered but the content is judged otherwise relevant.brbrThese are just assumptions, so if somebody can confirm or have another point of view about the matter, i would happy to hear it.br

I know that some sites that have high traffic get more attention from google and thats why you get the subdirectories.

As for no descriptions, those site probably have keywords but no description meta tags.
