How can i get high rankings in google, seem to do okay in other search engines

PSearch engines all try to list sites that contain good content. Translation: you need words on your pages to achieve a high ranking on a search engine, not flashy graphics. This text should contain the most important keywords that your potential customers would use to find you on a search engine. If you have very few or no words on a page where you wish to increase the search engine ranking, it is a good idea to add some, ideally around 250 per page. For aesthetic reasons, this is not always practical, but even 100 well-written words will give you a better opportunity for a high ranking on a search engine than none. It is also important that you make certain that the words are written in a language the search engines can read. Using your mouse, bring your cursor down to the text on one of your web pages. Clicking and holding down the left mouse button (make sure you aren't near a link) see if you can highlight just one or two words of the text. If you can, everything is most likely fine. If nothing happens, or you can only highlight a large block, it is most likely in graphic form. To increase search engine ranking in such cases, the graphic text needs to be replaced by standard HTML text to allow the search engines to read it.

Also important is to include the most important and relevant keywords in the page title. Also have correct keyword density and keyword proximity on every page of the website. Another important step is to obtain links from other relevant sites. The more links the better, but you should focus on obtaining links from sites that themselves have many links pointing to them, because the search engines place higher value on links from those sites.

If your site is high up on other search engines and you have a lot of links, where do these links come from?

If these links come from sources that Google does not rate or even worse if it does not like them, then this may be part of your problem.

You can check this by setting yourself up in Google Webmaster Tools and verifying your account, this will allow you to see which links Google scores you for.

I have several sites that were part of link exchange programmes and had been subjected to some of these 'we gurantee you top page listings in 2 weeks' type things.

If Google sees your site has hundreds if not thousands of useless in bound links from these low value sites then it could remove you from search.

Check the Google Webmaster Guidelines and tick them off against your site as you go down them and see if you break the rules or if you are not doing what is says.

I find generally that this is very common since when PR first came about and linking was king, all the exchanges and farms were rife and this was the best way but now you get penalised for these techniques.

It would be interesting to know what your results are.

Please post them back.

Improve you site for your targeted keywords and improve you link popularity and use your targeted keyword as your anchor text that will help you to have a better rankings and keep in mind that SEO is a continuous process and that your competitors are doing everything for them to out rank you...
