Competition?

It seems everyone (internet wise) wants a piece against Google. Currently Microsoft has released it's own beta version search engine which looks very similiar towards Google's (http://beta.search.msn.com/). Although they have indexed 5 billion pages they are 3 billion short of Google's.

Which do you think is better? I prefer Google (I'm biased) but what do you think?

in all fairness the new msn search is good too. i did a quick glance at it and I liked it. i do a lot of image search and this new msn search is great for that, for example it asks you if you want the picture to show in: "All Large Medium Small Color or B&W" which is pretty cool. check it out for yourself: http://beta.search.msn.com/images/re...=no&FORM=IFIR4

what do others think?

as far as voting... well, I am biased too and a google freak, LOL!

Well I hardly ever use something else than Google when I'm searching on the internet. So I can't say a lot about the quality of Yahoo and MSN search. They didn't have a good search engine when I last used it, I'm very happy with Google so I don't intend on using another search engine.

Interesting: "and whilst generally the Beta of MSN Search still has a long way to go to be a fully fledged product, there is one part of it that demands much closer inspection, the Search Builder, which is accessible just below the search box.

It contains the same basic functions as most other search engines: Search Terms, Site/Domain restriction, Country/Region, Language options, but there is an additional feature called ‘Results Ranking’ which gives an indication of the direction MSN may be taking in personalization.

‘Results Ranking’ has three equalizer slider(s) that a searcher can use to customise the results. They are interesting because the sliders have an impact at algorithmic level, influencing the way the search engine actually looks for results. This is a novel approach to personalization as most user level search engine filters are applied to a set of results, delivered via a standard query mechanism.

How to use the slider:

1. To modify your search to add emphasis to sites that have been recently added to the search index, you move the third slider up.
2. To add emphasis to sites by the number of other sites that link to them, move the middle slider up.
3. To put the most emphasis on the match between your exact search words and your results, move the first slider up. This will de-emphasize the two other rankings as search parameters."

Don't you think this poll is going to be a little biased on a Google forum

Wow! Are you saying they actually block Google in school? That's censorship gone too far.

Google Nation! It would take something catastrophic for me to change, I'm so dependent upon it and have confidence with its results.

Have any of you used or tried Clusty?

What did you think about it?
