Ok.
Back in January I started my site. I was faced with the dilemma of which dot suffix to use. The nature of the site was more deserving of a .org domain, but .com is more common and memorable. So I bought the .com with the intention of buying the .org later. Recently, I bought the .org of the same domain name and made it so all links to it redirect to their .com counterpart. (a simple domain redirect) I wanted after that to make it so that only the .org domain would show up in Google, but never any .com links (unless of course they're sub-links) so I went into Google Webmaster tools and set up another site account under the .org domain to see if I could arrange it so that the preferred domain in Google was the .org (I had long previously set up a site account for the .com domain) No such luck. There doesn't appear to exist such an option. After being unable to set the Webmaster tools so that the .org domain was preferred, I gave up and decided to primarily use the .org domain's mention as a PR thing. (telling people if they'd prefer to give people the .org address instead of the .com address because it's more ... 'appealing', they should) Thing is, later I heard that having two sites with the same content on google can get your site blacklisted! Yeah, don't want that. So anyways, later I Googled my site's name and saw that the .org domain was showing up in the Google search! I don't want my site blacklisted over something as innocent as this! Is there someone I should contact specifically to make this clear and/or arrange it so that only .org shows up? Also, I've seen several sites on Google which have indented sub-links. (ex. do a Google search for Yahoo) How do you get those? |

It can't get you blacklisted, If you have two identical sites Google will just ingnore one of them, I would take down one of the sites though and put a landing page on it sayiing we have moved out website to www.newwebsite.org.
