double google entrys ???

hello,

i changed my shop site several time in the last month. it had technical reasons. i did not change the items itself but i had to change the item id so the url changed.

google has now every page at least 4 times and the older 3 entrys of all pages are not reachable (of cause).

so, i could i delete these entrys which make no sense and are look for google like double conetent (e.g. the page is not availabe enymore etc.)

thanx for any help!

Hmm, as you said, you could just delete the old entries, and Google will eventually get rid of them. Or, you could have the old url redirect to the new url.

Make sure there is no navigation to the old pages and build up backlinks and like the Captain said your old pages will be removed.

Awww.... been in this situation many times, dax, and I know exactly what Google wants to see. If you have new pages to replace the old pages, use a permanent (or 301) redirect from the old page to the new page. Google will list the new page much faster this way. Also, don't confuse this with a META redirect, which doesn't help you. Please let me know if I need to explain further.

the problem is the old pages are deleted allready and there is no way to recover the old links to that paged. i cold copy them out from google but that would take ages.

so, that really seems to be a problem.

here is one example:

http://www.da-x.de/Audiosoftware/VSL...ion::8775.html

maybe i should check out what guided to that "cannot find..." page and link it to a error page so that google thing that page is not existing?

If you don't have a way to easily trace and setup 301s from the old site to the new site, the next step would be to go back look and at your website traffic from the old site in whatever analytics program you're running. I find that in a lot of my 100-150 page websites, 75% of the traffic is going to the top 10-15 pages. If you don't know exactly what page to replace those top 10 or 15 pages with, just give it your best guess. They will only serve a temporary purpose, which is to direct Google to your new site.

Actually, I just remembered that you had a shopping site (I almost never work with shopping sites), so the advice above may not help you. Rather than try to give you more advice that may or may not help you, I'll see if anybody else here has a good idea. Sorry!

yes, you git me wrong i did not changed the site or anything. i did re-upload the pages and by "accident" (my fault) the got new page idīs (urlīs) after each update i delteted the old one. that hapend within about 10 weeks or so.

withing this time google had the chance to update their database.

so now i have about 1600 pages listeed but it should be only 500 or so. the other 1100 guide into the page which tell you that the page does not exist anymore.
