Link building campaign naturally takes time and it's worth it. I don't prefer buying links because it's an artificial link building and google is now seeing it as spammy. Don't worry, the result that natural link building campaign that can give you in general is larger than any other link building technique and will surely boost your site's status.

And for additional advise, focus also to other factors in SEO such as content and other on-page optimization. Content is very important.
