Yahoo! Launches Desktop Search (Competition for Google)

Long anticipated, Yahoo Desktop Search is finally here. I've got an overview of the tool in today's SearchDay article, Yahoo Launches Desktop Search.

Initial impressions:

It's a solid contender, with very strong filtering and preview capabilities. Indexing is fast and painless, covering more than 200 file types. Search is also fast and quite good.

Downsides: Virtually no web search integration, and no indexing or caching of viewed web pages ala Google Desktop. Yahoo says it's working on these and other features, that this is a "living beta" and they want feedback from users.

Anyone had a chance to play around with it yet?

Now if we can only get MSN to release their long anticipated search technology, we'll have a real interesting battle going on here....

I think this three BIG BOYs of internet Business are going to improve together with their competition...

But as we all know google is far ahead from them...

Google already has the best SE so they only need a twist to make it better, Yahoo and specially MSN is working from scratch so if Bill Gates is going to keep up the "good" luck then we should start seen the new MSN search tool with Blue Death Screens hehehehehe...
