Google is still doing alright, but in my opinion they have to focus more on their search engine and less on acquiring new services if they want to keep their nr. 1 status. Sure Google is innovating like crazy and their new services are good (most of them that is).
But at the same time their competition are innovation on their search engine while Google is not (or at least less). This might give the others an opportunity to gain in on the Search engine race. Even though Google's search engine is IMO still the best there is, competition is getting closer to Google's quality. When Google does not pay enough attention to this, it might be so that in the long run Google looses territory.

I wont agree on that I'm afraid but I will agree on what tokkolo said, google needs to focus on there search engine more than releasing new products.

No, he meant Google should release a Linux distro. I don't agree on that. It would only increase Linux' popularity, and it would barely help Google. Google should concentrate more on what they started with, search. I know a lot of new features that can be added.

I think he means search features... Maybe some people think google is perfect 'cause they find anything in the internet but I've seen Google's dark side too...
Haven't you searched for something and did not find it? Well is not that it isn't there is just that google didn't saw it, google has much to improve... You'll maybe ask me WHAT ELSE CAN GOOGLE IMPROVE? well... Getting a site to be indexed in google shouldn't be the headcache of a SEO team, is The SE it self that must improve the system in order to list the smallest site... Searching on google is more than typing keywords, you have to know HOW TO SEARCH and how to dismiss useless results, this is another problem the SE should be more easy for (forgive me if somebody feels insulted) "stupid" users... Still Google is the Best in SE, but that doesn't mean it is perfect and that there is no room for improvement... PS: Google did make a GREAT work changing the Size of the database ID variables that stucked them in 4million sites for a while, they changed the 32-bit ID to a larger one, that is a great job for such a big database... So don't say google is not paying attention to it's SE... |

Google should make gmail available to everyone and not just invites, then add a link on the search engine to gmail. I give my gmail invites out straight away, I know people who keep them and don't share. It should be available to everyone.
