can this be stopped?

When searching on Google (or yahoo or most any search engine) and then selecting a site to visit from the results page, I and my customers will often get diverted to another site (usually ebay) which will prevent us from returning to our original search.

Is there anyway to prevent this? If not, does anyone know of any engines that aren't being diverted by other sites? This is more than a little annoying--and I have no idea why ebay or a software company or a bank or anyone else would think I or most others will appreciate being highjacked for forced to view their site. If anything, it will convince me to never use their services.

Hmmm,
Interesting fact.
Ok, I'm good at solving such problems!
Here what we should do!

1. Name ALL your TOOLBARs software installed in your browser, like GoogleToolbar or YahooToolbar and what Browser you use. Do you have antivirus installed? Any other software related to eBay installed?

2. Could you send me a link example which diverts to another web site like you said. I will simply try it from my PC and see what happens

After that, we'll seeeeee.......

here are a few

i use explorer. have google toolbar and use spyware doctor. have nothing related to ebay.

here are a few searches at random:

search sales training:
click on first entry and go instead to info.com
click on second entry and go to findstuff.com instead

search gold mines:
clicked on first entry and went to best red instead

seached flight training:
clicked on first entry and went to booking buddy instead.

what type of virus can do this? happens with virturally every search engine

Sorry, I would need a link for the searches. Google gives me totally different results as I'm not in USA. Google localizes searches by the country first.

Here what you should do - search for a word and Copy and Paste your URL form the browser here...

Then, we'll see....

Thanks

Are you saying that some of the sites that do a redirect won't let you use your back button? If so then NO it can't be stopped. It's a silly script in action aggrivating you. It's like asking site owners to stop pop-ups. Instead of using your BACK button use the drop menu in your browser. =)

It must be some kind of spyware sitting in the background and doing nasty stuff... I haven't had such problem in my life ... that's why I'm a bit surprised ...
